Services

Stars by X provides mystery shopping audits and business rating services in Orange County, California. By booking or purchasing any service, you agree to these terms.

One-time audits

One-time audits are booked and paid in advance. The visit occurs within a window you select, typically two weeks. The exact date and time are not disclosed in advance.

Any purchases made during a visit — meals, products, services — are billed to the client at actual cost in addition to the audit fee.

All paid audit results, including scorecards, reports, and supporting materials, are strictly private and delivered only to the commissioning business. They are never posted publicly.

Memberships

Memberships require a 6-month minimum commitment. Monthly fees are billed in advance. After completing the minimum term, memberships continue month-to-month until cancelled with 30 days' written notice.

After completing any one-time audit, 50% of that audit's price may be credited toward the first month of a membership, applied at the time of enrollment.

Public reviews and Everyday ratings

Public reviews, Called Out cases, and Everyday Experiences are independent ratings conducted at our discretion as regular customers. They are not commissioned by any business.

Public ratings cannot be bought, changed, or removed for payment. Any business featured in a public rating may submit a written reply at no charge. Replies are posted alongside the rating.

Comped or invited meals and services are disclosed on camera and scored on the same scorecard as services we pay for.

Called Out

When a business is featured in a Called Out case, we contact them directly with receipts and provide a 7-day window to respond before publishing. All notices, receipts, and responses are retained as permanent records. Publishing is never tied to payment.

Certified Badge

The Stars by X Certified Badge is issued to businesses that score 4.0 stars or higher on a paid audit. Badges are valid for 12 months from the date of issue and include one surprise re-check within the validity period. If the re-check scores below 4.0, the badge is revoked. Badges expire automatically after 12 months unless renewed.

Travel

Services are based in Orange County, CA. Visits outside Orange County are subject to a travel fee, quoted in advance.

Limitation of liability

Stars by X is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our services or the publication of ratings. All ratings reflect our honest, independent assessment at the time of the visit.
